Managing Staff Shifts in the PWS Application

Introduction

The PWS Application allows you to create and manage staff shifts to track practice statistics and operational schedules effectively. Shifts represent different times your practice is open or indicate staff changes throughout the day. This article provides step-by-step guidance on creating, editing, and deleting shifts within the application.


Creating a New Shift

Follow these steps to create a new shift in the PWS Application:

  1. Navigate to the Settings Page
    • Click the settings icon in the navigation bar.
    • From the dropdown menu, select "Settings."
  2. Find the "Create Staff Shifts" Section
    • Scroll down to locate the "Create Staff Shifts" section.
  3. Add a New Shift
    • Click the "Add Shift" button.
    • Enter the following details:
      • Shift Number
      • Shift Name
  4. Save Your Changes
    • Click Save to add the shift to your practice.
    • If you made additional edits on the settings page, click Save again before exiting.

Editing an Existing Shift

To modify an existing shift:

  1. Navigate to the Settings Page
    • Click the settings icon in the navigation bar.
    • Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
  2. Find the "Create Staff Shifts" Section
    • Scroll down to locate the "Create Staff Shifts" section.
  3. Edit the Shift
    • Click the Edit (pencil icon) next to the shift you want to modify.
    • Update the Shift Name as needed.
  4. Save or Cancel Changes
    • Click Save to apply the changes.
    • Click Cancel to discard changes without saving.

Deleting a Shift

To remove a shift from the system:

  1. Navigate to the Settings Page
    • Click the settings icon in the navigation bar.
    • Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
  2. Find the "Create Staff Shifts" Section
    • Scroll down to locate the "Create Staff Shifts" section.
  3. Delete the Shift
    • Click the Delete (trash can icon) next to the shift you want to remove.
    • A confirmation message will appear.
  4. Confirm Deletion
    • Click Yes to delete the shift.
    • Click No to cancel and keep the shift.

Troubleshooting: "Shift Number Already Exists" Error

If you receive the error message: "Error! Shift number already exists" when creating a shift, follow these steps:

Ensure the Shift Number is higher than any existing shift.
This will place the new shift at the bottom of the list.
You can reorder shifts by editing the sort order number of each shift.
